  1. Dynamic Communication Skills

Students need to recognize that how they communicate, verbally and in writing, is critical to success in life. The graduate must understand that his words - thoughtfully selected and effectively employed - are important. Words in action ultimately determine how we are heard and understood - or not - by the world.

  2. Discipline

Discipline is a critical factor in success. It is the attribute necessary to achieve excellence in any pursuit, art, music, academics or athletics. The ability to focus on what is needed rather than what is wanted is the critical ingredient to identifying and achieving goals. Without discipline, even raw talent is not as helpful. Theodore Roosevelt said "With great self-discipline, anything is possible."

  3. 90 Portraits for 90 Grads

If there are 90 Grads of 2030 then Crescent needs to have 90 Portraits available to serve their individual needs. Some may need scholastic support, some may need a boost in character. You are not a factory starting with a sample and turning it into a product. You are given a boy with his own certain set of circumstances. And you are tasked with sending him out into the 2030 world as a productive, happy member of society. Be what your Grads need. Don't make the Grads be what you need.

  5. In one word: Resilience. The ability to make it through tough times.

Spirituality: The search for meaning in life; the human experience. Why are we here? What lies beyond the visible. How does our faith in a Greater Purpose for our existence strengthen our ability to withstand tough times?

  9. Understanding and Respecting Others

A Crescent graduate will achieve the best sense of purpose and fulfilment in life by understanding others. Learning to question, listen, and avoid defaulting to consensus views, will develop this quality thereby creating respect and building confidence in each person.

  11. Skills in a second language

Global awareness is becoming increasingly important in this day and age, let alone 13 years from now. Having said that, a second language will be vital in surviving in the 'real world'. In addition, it will open up more jobs opportunities than a monolingual person and expose our grads to an appreciation for other cultures.

  12. Community engagement

We live in an interconnected world that is only getting smaller. Engaging with your own community and the broader one creates a more supportive, empathetic and accepting society for everyone. Having a chance to see and learn this as a student will allow Crescent graduates to be leaders in all aspects of life as they will be able to appreciate a variety of lived experiences and help work towards a more connected society.
