dropdown links in header should be buttons not hypertext
the list of links that appear when I hover over "community" "action tools" "resources" etc are currently only hyperlinks - meaning I have to click exactly on the text to activate the link. You should make the entire box surrounding each word into a link - like a big button - to make it easier to use.

Over time we’ll use the Spotlights to introduce and feature “Featured Themes” – right now you’ll see that Migration is on the homepage as one of the Featured Themes

Put in skip navigation anchor for ppl with disabilities
if you're visually impaired you'll probably use a screen reader to read the page to you. The reader will start at the top and work its way down the page and it will read each and every link for each page you visit so for every page on your site it will read each link in the navigation menu at the top
ie. almost 50 links before you even know what the page is about!3 votesDone! We’ve added this to the header. Can you ask some screen reader users to try it out and let us know if it’s done?

change the font and/or spacing
There seems to be a lot of text on the homepage. In particular on the left-side column the spacing between the issues are very tight (looks cramped)
10 votesWe added some extra spacing when you expand an issue to make it cleaner!

change the way the spotlights appear
It is hard at the moment to see the other spotlights as they are located at the top of main spotlight. They would be better embedded below, I feel.
7 votesWe’ve done this!

TIG feed too personal
The TIG feed that shows when people became friends etc seems way too personal. It's like if Facebook showed a page when every user became associated with each other, made a post, sent a message -- EEK!
2 votesagreed & done!

Improve "learn about TIG" video
It's a great ad for TV, but for someone coming to the site who actually wants to know what TIG is about, it doesn't really tell you anything about the org, what we do, or what we offer.
2 votesWe’ve added a whole new welcome video (Thanks to our friends at Engage Learning Systems) and have also produced an animated introduction that will be live later today!
-
Show both Members Online and Active Members on Map
Ideally, you can switch between showing one of these, or both, on the map!
14 votesWe’ve launched this on the homepage with two different colours to differentiate!
-
Explain Welcome Language
It should say which language it is when you log in. Very similar to Flickr.com but still would be a small language educational step.

AJAX News Feeds to allow "next 5" and faster loading
This will help the page load faster, and allow members to view an infinite number of "previous" news feed items!
