  3. Responsibility

As they recognize and develop their knowledge, skills and natural gifts, I would like the boys to become men who understand responsibilities - to their future families, friends, communities, nation and the whole world. "To whom much has been given, much is expected."

A Crescent graduate will achieve the best sense of purpose and fulfilment in life by understanding others. Learning to question, listen, and avoid defaulting to consensus views, will develop this quality thereby creating respect and building confidence in each person.

  8. Community engagement

We live in an interconnected world that is only getting smaller. Engaging with your own community and the broader one creates a more supportive, empathetic and accepting society for everyone. Having a chance to see and learn this as a student will allow Crescent graduates to be leaders in all aspects of life as they will be able to appreciate a variety of lived experiences and help work towards a more connected society.

  9. Intellectually Curious, Creative and Strong Academically.

Competition for spots in good University programs will be even higher in 2030. Globalization and technology advances in areas such as artificial intelligence and robotics will make it even more challenging to find a productive and enjoyable place in the economy. Strong math and communications skills will be particularly important. Boys graduating in 2030 will need good analytic skills and an ability to apply this knowledge creatively.

  11. A Crescent Grad should be creative. Creativity cannot be taught, it must be fostered and Crescent should be a place that does this.

  12. A Healthy Relationship with Technology

Graduates need the knowledge and habits to be able to use technology in a positive way that genuinely and measurably improves their lives and those around them. Conversely, we need to ensure they do not develop an unhealthy relationship with technology, where its use negatively impacts their well-being and productivity by being a distraction, or worse, an addiction.

  16. Learning How To Learn

Fact: every programming language taught today in Computer Science class will be obsolete by 2030. The language itself isn't the point. What is relevant is teaching the skills, mindset and importance of proactively, continually and independently learning difficult new things every day for the rest of their lives, and to do it faster, better and with more passion than their peers. Our graduates need to truly excel at "learning how to learn."
